The hotel industry is a productive field that offers career and self-improvement opportunities for young people, with increasing investments and new service standards every year in the world and in Turkey. However, the extent to which the courses offered at the higher education level can respond to this trend is an issue that needs to be examined.

About the Project:

Assessment of the Alignment Between Higher Education Program Curricula and Sectoral Requirements

Description:

The aim of the project is to examine the courses offered in higher education programs in order to identify their current state in Turkey, where the tourism potential and capacity are growing each year, and to compare them with the previously conducted analysis of sectoral needs.

Project Objectives:

Identification of four-year and two-year tourism/hotel management programs offered at the higher education level in Turkey
Compilation of course contents (syllabi) for the identified programs
Classification of the topics covered in the course contents
Creation of a dataset that can be compared with sectoral requirements

Project Tasks:

Identification of relevant higher education programs based on data from YÖK Atlas
Examination of course plans available on the websites of these programs
Tabulation and classification of the courses
Preparation of a comprehensive, classified dataset in table format

Project Outputs:

A project report including the objectives, goals, tasks, and results (to be prepared by students)
A comprehensive list of higher education-level courses and instructional topics in the field of tourism/hotel management

Student Learning Outcomes:

Developing the ability to conduct basic research on a given topic using online resources
Gaining the ability to evaluate higher education opportunities that may contribute to their career path
Acquiring knowledge and awareness about higher education programs that offer training aligned with sectoral requirements
